Positioned as a successor to the earlier AT&T Digital Life home security and automation offering, Connected Life combines multiple elements, including connectivity, hardware, and monitoring capabilities, into a unified smart home security ecosystem.

The product strategy prioritizes straightforward installation, app-based control functionality, and seamless integration with Google’s ecosystem, addressing use cases such as burglary deterrence, package protection, remote monitoring, and foundational home automation tasks. Additionally, the service enables users to conveniently arm/disarm home security via the app, emphasizing ease of use.
Google Home and Google Nest integration form core components of the platform, with both Connected Life service plans incorporating Google Home smart security capabilities. These include event-based video history and intelligent alert systems that leverage Google Nest Doorbell technology featuring a wide 145° field of view to provide thorough porch visibility for both full-body detection and package monitoring. The platform incorporates Nest Learning Thermostat functionality, allowing users to achieve significant energy savings on heating and cooling costs through intelligent temperature management.
Users employ the Google Home app for key interactions such as arming and disarming the system, live video streaming, and managing alert notifications, which intelligently differentiate human presence from general motion to reduce false alarms. Voice control is enabled through Google Assistant, allowing hands-free execution of security scenes and control over compatible lighting and connected devices.
Connected Life’s plan structure offers tiered options based on monitoring level and functionality, distinguishing between basic and professional monitoring services. Both tiers include a core feature of 30 days of event-based video history at no extra cost. The two service plans are called Essential monitoring and Professional monitoring, with prices starting at $10.99 and $21.99 per month respectively.
The service mandates wireless or wired internet service from AT&T as the connectivity foundation, while hardware acquisition is facilitated via third-party installment financing, with APRs ranging from 0% to 36%, subject to customer eligibility and geographic factors.
The platform maintains continuous remote home visibility through app and online interfaces, deploying event-triggered video recording rather than continuous streams. Notifications encompass alerts for doorbell activity, motion events, and detected individuals.
This approach builds directly upon the earlier Digital Life system, which integrated 24/7 monitoring, sensors for doors and windows, motion detectors, and thorough video and text alerts.
