IKEA debuted 21 Matter compatible smart home devices at CES 2026. The company made its first CES appearance with an emphasis on affordability and interoperability, featuring a $6 smart bulb, an $8 smart plug, and a $6 smart remote. These devices require a Matter hub like DIRIGERA or compatible third party hubs for operation. The announcement highlighted IKEA‘s push toward accessible, everyday smart home solutions using the Matter over Thread standard.
The focus was on lighting, sensors, and control devices designed for broad usability. All products support cross platform integration, enabling seamless use with major ecosystems. Products reflect years of development and real-life testing.
The KAJPLATS smart bulb range includes eleven variations in shapes, sizes, lumen levels, and color or white spectrum options. The E27 E26 globe model has a 60mm diameter and offers up to 1,521 lm dimmable brightness or 1,055 lm with color changing capability. The P45 E14 compact bulb has a 45mm diameter with 470 to 806 lm output for both dimmable and color changing models.
The GU10 spotlight delivers 470 lm color changing or 575 lm dimmable light. There is also a clear glass decorative option available in white spectrum dimmable only.
Pricing starts at $6 for the smart bulb, $8 for the smart plug, and $6 for the smart remote. In the UK, bulb prices range from 4.50€ to 10€ equivalent. The motion sensor and water leak detector are each priced at $9.99 in the US. The VARMBLIXT smart donut lamp is priced at $99.
IKEA’s strategy centers on volume sales and accessibility rather than premium features. This approach aims to bring smart home technology to a wider audience.
All 21 devices support Matter over Thread for cross platform integration. They work with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon, and Samsung SmartThings. Native Thread capability allows direct connection to a compatible hub without needing proprietary gateways.
This rollout rebuilds the TRÅDFRI line with enhanced color options and light intensity. The devices are interoperable with existing Matter ecosystems.
Five sensor types are included in the lineup: motion sensors for indoor and outdoor use under the MYGGSPRAY name, air quality sensors, humidity sensors, water leakage detectors, and door window sensors called MYGGBETT. The smart plug allows non smart devices to become controllable. Remotes offer distance control and integrate with apps.
A smart dimmer switch features four programmable buttons and a multi zone light bar. Configurable gestures can trigger actions such as adjusting blinds or starting vacuum cleaners via Matter.
The TEKLAN collection introduces circular Bluetooth speakers in sizes from 8 to 18 inches, along with KULGLASS speaker lamps. The VARMBLIXT smart donut lamp offers app and remote control with rainbow color cycles. The VARMBLIXT smart pendant provides adjustable white tones and light tubes.
Bulbs and sensors will be available starting January 2026. Other products like lamps and speakers will launch in April or summer 2026. The lamps and speakers come from design collaborations with Tekla and Evelina Severin.
IKEA’s new smart home lineup challenges premium brands like Philips and Nanoleaf through low prices. The company prioritizes sensors to encourage ecosystem lock in over direct competition in lighting. By leveraging the universal Matter standard, IKEA aims to democratize smart home access. These new devices can be controlled using Alexa voice commands alongside other popular smart home platforms.
An early US sensor launch occurred ahead of the January 2026 schedule. The product range expands to 21 items, including updates to the TRÅDFRI line and real home testing results. The showcase took place in a compact meeting room at the Venetian, described as being about the size of a small living room.
